The 918 Spyder was a limited production model - just 918 were made. The car was precision-built by hand by around 100 staff at a facility that was specially constructed for the purpose. Assembly alone took around 100 hours for each car.

It starts with a 4.6L V8 engine providing 608hp mated to two electric motors directly to the front of the rear axle and to the rear of the front axle providing an additional 286hp essentially allowing the vehicle to have an all-wheel drivetrain. Peak horsepower reaches 887 at 8,500rpm and can deliver 0-60 times of 2.5 seconds with a top track speed of 214mph. 5 different driving modes allow you to choose different driving options including E-Power, Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid, and with the push of the red button you can engage Hot Lap configuration. The battery can be charged in as little as 30 minutes with the proper equipment but can also be recharged with fuel. In all-electric mode you can get up to 19 miles on a single charge along with a top speed of 93mph. With a body style emblematic of a race car the overarching front hood extends over the fenders emphasizing the width of the vehicle. The two-part domed roof made from lightweight carbon can be stored in the luggage compartment while an extendable rear wing provides sportiness and downforce. Inside exquisitely crafted leather seats await with a comfortable amount of space for the driver to adjust to a comfortable position. The state-of-the-art smartphone style touchscreen with three dials provides intuitive operation of displays and control functions such as comfort, entertainment, and navigation on the 8-inch display in the dashboard.
